First off, I noticed that the previous post seems a little buit angry and aggresive. I apologise, try to read it more calmly, the message still stands (To be honest if your reading my blog, chances are your not the bad type anyway, unless you followed my facebook link, which makes it depending on the person)
Now on topic
Recently, I played the xbox verison of left 4 dead 2. As much as the bots were bad enough, I did notice on occasions (such as the petrol station bit and the finale on no mercy, my brother bought the dlc) that it lags. Obviously this is unstoppable, as console dont have graphic settings, because they dont need to. BUT surely this shouldnt happen, they should be built to run perfectly to the system?
This, my friends, is what I like to call lazy developers (or other reasons, valve arent lazy...oh wait, they are)
Nowadays, consoles have become alot more....fiercer. Back in the old days the console wars was barely heard of. It was there, of course, but not as strong as it is today. With everyone competing for graphics and popularity, graphics and visuals are being chosen over performance. Games like mass effect, which probably run really well on pc, lag at parts on the xbox. Sure, some people might not notice, but it bugged me. And some games are worse.
But why?
Sure, the current consoles are getting old, and with the recent release of the motion controllers and peripherals, there gonna be around for a while still, but surely developers would see this, and adapt. The exclusive games, uncharted, halo reach etc, will run perfectly (unless its a badly made game). But its generally games that are on the pc too that end up being laggy. Now we all know how pcs are almost' two generations ahead' or something, which means the pc is capable of a wee bit more than the consoles. So why do developers make games that are destined to lag. It happens both ways iswell, bad ports make pc games lag like crazy. One example of this is the whole Black ops affair. While the xbox version remained at prestine quality, both the ps3 and pc versions were left with sudden drops in frame rate and other problems (the pc being dreadful for some).
So it does happen both ways, though the console having the bad version being the more common. What developers need to understand is that the pc being different from home consoles. They dont need a port, they need a almost new game. This is alot similar to the story of ports to ps3, due to the multi core processor. Now, Bioware did this perfectly. Dragon age origins had a brilliant pc version, pushing the pc alot, where the console version got a optimized game with a brilliant control system. This is proof that it is possible, though bioware did make mass effect
There was other stuff that I was gonna put, but I forgot. Therefore, I shall leave it there

Girls 'n' Games
If youve played a game online for more than 4 seconds (ok, a little exaggeration MAY be in that last statement) youll notice how girl gamers are treated by guys, or showing off that they play games, depending on who you have met. Both are a pain in there own way, from having a whiny chav shout owned all the time, while shes shooting at a wall, to having either guys hitting on or moaning at said girl for playing the game.
As you can probably tell,I believe there are 2 types of girl gamers. Girl Gamers, and Girls who play Games.
Girl gamers are the ones that are the problem. They come on games shouting " OH HAI, LOOK A GIRL ON A GAME, OMG IM LIKE THE ONLY ONE, PAY ATTENTION TO ME" in which, a variety of boys ( either a gamer or just a cod only player, these being the ones who only play cod and think it are the only game in the world) Try to impress them, skill for the first one, talking and insulting everyone for the second one.
And they leech off it.
Its so annoying to see a girl say IM GOING ON COD on facebook each time they do. There was a funny story of a girl which said that COD was her first game ever, then went on to post about how she preffered the Nintendo 64 over the xbox, and then said how she 'used to have one and play it'
Its like comon, MAKE UP YOUR MIND YOU ATTENTION SEEKING FAGGOLA...
It annoys me to see something like gaming, a hobby for most people, myself included, being treated by girls as an attention method. Like its some kind of big league thing. You should play a game because you enjoy it, not because you want some attention from the opposite sex.
So where does that leave the Girls who play Games? trapped in a world where guys consitently hit on them because there used to it (or because there just like that, but thats kinda unavoidable). All these girls want to do is play games, but some people wont let them. Ive met girls like this, talked with them in game, either ABOUT THE GAME, or just standard talk with people with mics. Either way, the fact that she is a girl is almost ignored, and no personal questions are asked. But because of the other group, the experience is almost ruined for them.
As for why guys make a fuss. Because
A) They are sad pathetic losers
and
B) The girls force a fuss if one does not naturally occur.
Note this says when they make a fuss, not everytime there is a girl on the game
So next time you go online, have a think about which type of boy/girl gamer you are, dont be the pervy boy, or attention seeking girl, just enjoy the game.
Whatever it is you are packing in your panties is best kept out of the conversation.

Peggle: Its all Balls and....Balls
Popcap, the kings of puzzle games, and the creator of plants vs zombies, have quite a varied set of games. On one hand you have Bejewelled, which is quite similar to most puzzle games, yet still draws you back. On the otherhand, Peggle is quite an original puzzler, involving balls....lots of balls
For the 2nd post of christmas, we will take a look at peggle.
Peggle is a puzzle game with a simple concept, You have to fire balls down to hit other balls, until you have hit all the orange balls, and therefore win. Like this...

For the 2nd post of christmas, we will take a look at peggle.
Peggle is a puzzle game with a simple concept, You have to fire balls down to hit other balls, until you have hit all the orange balls, and therefore win. Like this...
Purple balls mean more points, and green balls mean power ups, which can include fire balls or lots a balls. If you score over 25,000 points with one ball, or catch it in the moving hole at the bottom, you get a free ball, to hit other balls with. (Indeed)
Levels are varied and enjoyable, Including gimmicks like moving balls, teleporters, and themed levels (one is in the shape of a car) And the power ups are good too. Unlocked in adventure mode, a mode which plays throguh all 65 levels in order, unlocks more 'peggle masters' for you to use. Powerups include superguide, which helps aim shots, double ball, which splits the ball into 2, and fire ball, which burns though balls without boucning off them.
Once the adventure mode is over, there are three other modes for you to enjoy. Quickplay allows you to play any level....quickly. Duel mode allows you to compete with an AI or a second player (using hotseat style multiplayer) to get the most points of a single level. Here, you take turns firing balls on the SAME level (You both use the same level, you dont get one each to try and beat each others scores, so aim for the green balls quick). The person with the most points at the end wins. Although this is very enjoyable, there is no online play included, and the Ai seem to be extroadinarily lucky at times.
Last mode is Challenge mode, which consists of 75 challenges for yyou to try once you finish the game. These range from getting a certain number of points on a level, to completeting a level with only 2 balls to start with. These add replayablility to the levels after adventure mode is done.
There is also a replay feature in the game, in which you can save replays to view later. Peggle montage anyone?
Overall the game is fun and enjoyable for a relaxing game, but overall the gameplay feels like luck alot of the time. Adventure mod lasts about 3-6 hours, butt the other modes make it longer. I reccomend if you like balls.
What pwms:
Simple but fun gameplay
A variety of levels
Addicting
Good replayability
Cheap
ITS ALL ABOUT BALLS
What Fails
Game seems heavily lucked based rather than skill
Ai are too lucky
No online play
Overall 9/10
Popcap deliver a great game...about balls.
Recommend: If you like puzzle games and/or balls
(I belive balls were mentioned a little bit in this review)

The 12 posts of christmas
Hey guys, as you can see, I havent posted here recently. I plan to fix this now. As you probably know (and if you dont, where in this world dont you live), it is the festive season, and therefore it is time for...
THE TWELVE POSTS OF CHRISTMAS
Thats always confused me, why is it twelve days of christmas?
But on topic, this december I plan to write twelve posts (this is one, so technically 11 more) About things on my mind. From Tactics to Peggle, this proves to be an eventful...or non eventful, month.
So, as I flex my fingers, grab a coke and turn on rainymood, its time for some writing...

Dont moan at your master- A l4D bot tribute
Your Ai allies in the zombie apocalyspe, the ones they call Francis, Zoey, Louis, and Bill. In the times when you have no online, or poor connection, they are your only hope to survive this sdisaster alive. Back in the days of the demo, when the game was like a revolution to game mechancis and the such. Back then, they were treated like mastrs of the game. Shooting the special infected before you can even name which one is which, sticking extremely close, protecting you at all costs, healing you, reviving you, and being the player youd one day hope to be.
Till you got the game.
Yes, after youd grown accustomed to the game, the Ai, and rbeing able to play online, you begin to realise just how patheticly mediocre the bots are. Taken ages to save you from that hunter, healing you at bad moments, jumping in the way if bullets, or off a cliff, the bots end up making you join team zombie and kill them all.
But should we be so tough on them. I mean, before hand we used to look up to them, learn from them, rely on them. Now we lead them through like petrified children, but they were the ones who taught us to do it. Yes, as much as we despise them now, I can admit that they literally taught me how to survive horde after horde.
So what have they taught us, you may ask? Well, theyve taught ME...
1) Group spacing- Where to stand in a group, especially during hordes. Watching out for any unguarded openings, and not shooting teamates in the back, but trusting them.
2)Healing Teamates- When to heal, where to heal, why to heal? (if that makes sense) and to not be a selfish faggot and share amongst the team, considering everyones chances of survival.
3) Stick together- As much as you learn this from one of the AI's flaws, you learn that running ahead causes a snaeaky hunter to pounce you, draining your life points before you can say, 'wow, this hear hoodie guy appears to look infected, and hes clawing the shit out of me'
4) Know your infected- What type is it, when am I at risk, what the best weapon to use, whats the best stragety, run or shoot? RUN OR SHOOT? OR BOTH?
5) Aim, ya faggot- Not only shooting where ther be zombies, but not shooting when ther be humans.
6)Strategy trying- When you play with bots, you have the ability to try out stuff at your will, without pissing off any online players. What works and what doesen't
7) New grenade type- Due to the fact that Ai cant use grenades, you have the disadvantage of only having one grenade at once. Therefore strategy is essential, which is good for further games.
8) Know your equipment- Wepons and the such, watching the ai makes you realise tactics such as using the hunting rifle and what guns work well together in what situations
9) Know your role- What are you doing in the team, are you the short range close quarters guy, the sniper, the healer. Knowing when to do what actions are essential.
10) And last but not least, all the little things- Searching rooms, saving people from tanks, knowing where your allies are etc etc etc, this goes on for ever and ever
So next time you insult francis for teabagging your corpse, the next time Bill jumps in the way of a shotgun blast, the times when zoey commits suicide, or when lois heals you as a tank approaches, remember that they taught you what you know about survival, and without them could be very underskilled...or you could just sigh and team kill them all, up to you?
Also, has everyone else noticed that the aperfect online team is 3 players and a bot. The bot helps get rid of tricky infected, as well as other stuff, without being too much of a blunder.
Also, L4d2 bots? better than the 1st? we could never answer this, but now we have no mercy on both games, we could give a accurate guess.
NOTE: I did have many other points in this topic, but forgot them along the way. If you have any more ideas, post them below, thanks.
